Socket Fitting Guidelines

Galileo Fitting & Wear Recommendations

Ready to order and fit a new check socket? We've got your back! While there are no hard and fast set rules when it comes to fitting, we offer some recommendations for the best results based on our experience. Ultimately, you know your patients best and can follow your own intuition as well!

Socket Thickness

Traditional thickness is 4.5mm. On the order form, you can choose additional thickness (6mm) or thinner thickness (2.35mm) if desired, at your discretion.
  • Check "Additional Thickness" for additional support. We recommend checking this box for patients 285+ pounds.
  • Check "Thinner Print" if you would like a faster print or a more clear print. We recommend having static fittings with a thinner print to preserve stability

Wrap & Wear

If you'll be sending your patient out on the socket, feel welcome to decipher what works best for your needs. We recommend to:

  • Wrap the distal end in fiber glass to reinforce the socket.
  • Limit out-of-office wear time to 2 weeks to avoid long-term pressure. Note: You can print the same socket multiple times if you'd like to have them wear for a longer period!
